The members of the Recreation Commission have made a personal goal of reopening Littauer Pool and restoring it to its original state so that it may offer the same great services that it once offered the citizens of Gloversville.
The Littauer Pool Project will undergo many phases in its revitalization, including the repairing of the pool and the revamping of the pool house to turn it into a year-round facility. In order to raise funds for the completion of our vision, there will be many events held on the premises of the pool...especially witin the pool house.
We as a commission cannot stress how much of a community effort this will truly be. As you can see from the pictures below, we have a large task in front of us, but we are very eager to get this project done as much as the community is eager to get the pool back. Volunteers will be requested at numerous times throughout this project, so please come back to this site often to see when you will be needed.
Pool News
Updated 4/10/07
On Tuesday, April 10th, Sarah Rohrs and Robin Wentworth met with the City of Gloversville's building inspector, Rob Robbins, who was gracious enough to give us the green light on our pool house project. He gave us some wonderful advice regarding the pool house as to what we should do with the floors and the walls, but said "This building will outlast all of you!" This is just one more great step towards the public assurance that this project is extremely feasible!
Sean has been very busy with planning the upcoming events for the pool along with the restoration schedule! He submitted his tentative schedules at the commission meeting on March 12th. The restoration schedule is as follows:

On Wednesday, February 28th, Treasurer Sean Gittens met with a New York State Health Inspector in order to check the premises for the pool project. We are very happy to say that the inside of the pool house passed inspection regarding lead and other potential health hazards! This was wonderful news in our efforts to fix up the poolhouse.
